Advantages of Using Video on Social Media

By on December 18th, 2023 in Marketing

In a world where everything is instant, streaming, and vying for your attention, it can be hard to make an impact. That is why videos are an incredibly important tool to break through this flood of information. It’s a fact that moving images attract our attention, and as a result, can be used more effectively than other forms of media marketing. Let’s review several reasons why you should be using video in your marketing plans if you aren’t already.

They draw more attention.

With this flood of information at our fingertips, it makes sense that your message could easily be lost in the crowd. That’s one reason why using video in your social media plan is a great way to stand out. Our brains naturally gravitate to videos because we are constantly searching for entertainment, and we can instantly process what is happening. With attention spans decreasing, video has become a big part of communicating and engaging with an audience.

It conveys more information than a static image.

When making a traditional photo post to social media, you have a very limited amount of information you can use without losing the interest of your viewer. However, with a video you have the opportunity to elaborate a bit more on a topic. Videos should still be shorter if possible since longer videos will have the same problem, but it really opens up the possibilities as to what you can do. For example, you could tell a short story. To further illustrate this, take a look at a video we completed recently showcasing favorite LKCS memories from Tim Turczyn, our Vice President of Sales:

You can connect to your customers or members on a more personal level.

Another great benefit to using video is the ability to talk directly to your audience. Having someone from your institution talking about a product, service, or event is a much more effective way to communicate than other means. It also has an added bonus of showing potential account holders a sneak peak into your financial institution.

This only scratches the surface of how important a tool video could be for your team. For instance, you could use short videos to promote an event, new product, or to introduce a new employee. I hope this inspired you to find new ways to connect with your account holders through video.
